NSW/QLD CENSUS Reporting Guide

Overview

Every year, all NSW and QLD Government-funded community preschools must complete the annual preschool census on early childhood education.

The collected information is used for planning and program development, monitoring the outcomes of early childhood initiatives, such as universal access to kindergarten and the implementation of the National Quality Framework, and determining and calculating service funding.

OWNA has a Census reporting function that will help Services provide the required data. This guide aims to assist with tagging and completing children and parent profiles to ensure accurate and complete data is extracted in the reports.

Getting Census Data

  1. Go to 💻 Reports > Reports Dashboard
  2. Select NSW Census Report or QLD Census Report

QLD Reporting - Table Guide

Column 1. Report Field: corresponds to the heading under each Census report (NSW or QLD)

Column 2. Children TAG Name: refers to the Tag that Services should use when tagging the relevant children to ensure they are included in the report when it is generated

Column 3. Data Source: refers to fields or location in the OWNA portal where data is used to populate certain Census report columns (if these fields are blank, the report will return blank data)

⚠️For the QLD census report, ensure you run the report and export to excel. The excel document will display the data in the format that is required for you to upload into the census system. You will then use this excel data to import into the census upload system.
