Absence Count - Multiple Sessions/Day

Overview

This guide explains how CCS treats absences when a child is enrolled to attend more than one session of care on the same day and is absent from one or more sessions.

Scenarios

Partial Absence

If a child is enrolled to attend more than one session of child care on the same day and is absent from only one of these sessions (but attends others) it is counted as one absence day.

Example:

Kingston attends before and after school care on Mondays and Tuesdays each week (i.e., two sessions per day on Monday and Tuesday). Kingston didn’t attend his before school session on Monday because his Dad was running late so he was dropped directly to school. Although he still attended his after school care session, being absent from his before school care session will mean it will be recorded as an absence day.

Full Absence

If a child is enrolled to attend more than one session of child care on the same day, and is absent from all sessions of care, it is counted as just one absence day.

Example:

Jordan attends before and after school care on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Jordan was absent from before and after school care on Wednesday as he was sick. Although he missed two sessions of care on this day, it will be recorded as one absence day.
